Sean Leslie
Copywriter, Editor & Marketer
āI believe great communication begins with understanding the people you're speaking to. I write copy that helps brands connect with their audience across websites, blogs, email campaigns, and digital marketing.ā
My Story
Iām Sean Leslie, a copywriter, editor, marketer, director, and author with over five years of professional experience in writing. I've written website content, conversion copy, and brand messaging for many companies across North America. I always focus on creating content that delivers results. My background as a published author and filmmaker helps me understand audiences. From writing a full website or refining existing content, I believe great copy starts with strong storytelling.
Take a look at some of my recent work. Each project showcases how I create copy that connects with audiences and supports business goals.
Education:
Simon Fraser University 2022 - Editing Certificate
University of British Columbia 2026 - Writing Skills for Digital Content Certificate
Dieselmatic
At Dieselmatic, I wrote website copy and digital content for more than 300 diesel repair shops across the U.S. and Canada. Working alongside SEO specialists, web developers, PPC specialists, and account managers, I learned how to create content that supports both businesses and their customers.
Below are examples of projects I was involved in:
Dieselsites
Overview
Dieselsites helps diesel repair shops establish a professional online presence through affordable, conversion-focused websites. I was responsible for writing the complete website copy, developing messaging that clearly communicated the company's value while encouraging visitors to sign up for the service.
Understanding the Audience
Before writing, I identified the primary audiences and their needs:
Independent diesel repair shops
Fleet service providers
Businesses looking to improve their online presence and generate more leads
Understanding these audiences helped shape the tone, messaging, and overall structure of the website.
Developing the Strategy
I approached the website with conversion in mind. Rather than overwhelming visitors with technical details, I focused on communicating clear business benefits through concise, approachable copy.
My strategy included:
Benefit-focused messaging
Clear and persuasive calls to action
Short, impactful headlines
Simple language that made the service easy to understand
A logical flow that guided visitors toward signing up
Writing the Copy
I developed copy for the site's key pages and sections, including:
Homepage messaging
H1, H2, and H3 headings
Value proposition and "Why Choose Us" section
Service descriptions
Calls to action
Sign-up messaging
Challenges
One of the biggest challenges was explaining a digital marketing product to business owners who may not be familiar with concepts like SEO or website optimization. Rather than relying on technical wording, I translated complex ideas into straightforward language.
Results
The website launched successfully and continues to grow. Since launch, it has generated dozens of customer sign-ups, providing early validation that the messaging and user experience are effectively supporting lead generation.

Suncoast Fleet Services
Overview
Suncoast Fleet Services is a fleet repair company based in Clearwater, Florida, specializing in maintenance and repair services for commercial trucks and fleets. I partnered directly with the client to develop the complete website copy, creating messaging that clearly communicated their expertise, differentiated them from competitors, and encouraged prospective customers to get in touch.
Understanding the Audience
I worked closely with the client to understand their business, their services, and the customers they wanted to attract. Together, we identified the primary audiences as:
Independent truck drivers
Fleet managers
Commercial businesses seeking reliable fleet maintenance
Developing the Strategy
The website was designed to educate visitors while guiding them toward contacting the business. Rather than focusing solely on repair services, I emphasized the long-term value of partnering with a dependable fleet maintenance provider.
The strategy included:
Clear service descriptions
Benefit-driven messaging
Strong calls to action throughout the site
Simple, approachable language for a broad audience
Consistent messaging that reinforced trust and reliability
Writing the Copy
I developed the complete website content, which includes:
Homepage
About Us page
Fleet repair and service pages
Manufacturer-specific service pages
Location pages
Contact page
Calls to action throughout the site
During the project, I also developed the company's tagline: "Our Business is Keeping Your Business on the Road." The tagline became a central part of the brand's messaging and reflected the company's commitment to supporting its customers' operations.
Challenges
One of the primary challenges was helping Suncoast Fleet Services stand out in a competitive local market. I focused on identifying what made the business unique, including specialized services, customer experience, and long-term fleet support. The messaging highlighted these differentiators while reinforcing the company's commitment to keeping commercial vehicles operating reliably.
Another challenge involved translating technical repair concepts into language that was accessible to customers without sacrificing accuracy. I balanced industry expertise with clear, straightforward explanations that built confidence and trust.
Results
The completed website gave Suncoast Fleet Services a stronger digital presence and a clearer brand identity. Following their launch, the client reported a significant increase in customer inquiries and new business. The improved messaging, combined with SEO and digital marketing efforts, contributed to a strong return on investment and helped establish the company as a trusted fleet repair provider in the Clearwater area.
Amax Leather

Managed Content Across Multiple Brands
At Amax Leather, I created and edited content for three distinct brands: Amax Leather, Hydeline, and Prospera. Each brand had its own audience, identity, and product focus, requiring a strategic approach to ensure the messaging remained consistent while reflecting each brandās unique voice.
My Role

Seasonal campaign content
My goal was to create clear, engaging copy that helped customers understand the value of each product while strengthening each brandās overall presence.
Brand Voice
One of the key challenges was creating content for three different brands while maintaining their individual identities. Adapting different writing style across each brand helped the content connect with the right audiences.
SEO & Content Strategy
I incorporated SEO best practices into website content and blog writing to improve search visibility and create content that was valuable for both users and search engines.
This included:
Strategic keyword integration
Improving content structure and readability
Creating customer-focused messaging
Optimizing product descriptions for engagement
Results
My work helped strengthen the digital presence of Amax Leather, Hydeline, and Prospera by providing consistent, customer-focused content across multiple platforms.
